The Footwear Materials Purchase Team Leader plays a key role in leading and ensuring the timely procurement of materials essential for footwear product development. Leads a team of footwear materials purchasers and a material coordinator and operator responsible for color standards.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to maintain efficiency throughout the materials procurement process.
Develops and implements strategic sourcing plans to optimize costs and ensure high-quality materials. Oversees the approval and distribution of color standards to maintain consistency across products and markets. Provides technical expertise and support on materials used in footwear production. Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes and streamline workflows. Mentors and guides team members to maximize performance and productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in complex MNC environments
- Direct experience as a Purchaser Team Leader or in a similar purchasing role
- Direct experience in working on projects with tight timelines
- Experience in using purchasing software such as SAP/Coupa or PLM software such as Centric
- Experience working in the footwear industry is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Technical Skills
• Strong knowledge and experience of materials sourcing, procurement processes, and supply chain management principles.
• In-depth knowledge of materials properties, characteristics, and manufacturing processes, particularly related to leather.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, and make data-driven decisions to optimize procurement processes.
• Familiarity with quality control standards and procedures to ensure purchased materials meet specified quality requirements.
• Commitment to quality, integrity, and continuous improvement, with a results-oriented approach to achieving objectives.
• Understanding of supply chain dynamics and the ability to optimize logistics processes to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.
