The Assembly and Paint Manager is responsible for leading a team to finish composite parts by assembling hardware/sub parts and applying painting.
The Assembly and Paint Manager will establish a system to ensure that his/her team can process the parts in a minimum amount of time and controls and maintains all equipment, such as tools and jigs/fixtures.
He/she will also maintain a staffing plan for their area, indicate training needs and perform trainings to his/her team as well as keep his/her team motivated and inform HR and the General Manager about the condition of his/her team.
Responsibilities:
The Assembly and Paint Manager shall do the following to accomplish the above:
- Control the creation and maintenance of assembly jigs/tooling
- Maintains inventory of jigs and tooling in a cost-effective way
- Recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions
- Maintain effective interface with the General Manager and Engineering and Maintenance to optimize production and process improvement activities
- Recommend and implement improvement projects to the General Manager to reduce wastes, cycle times and improve efficiency as well as improvement projects such as 5S
- Establish and implement work instructions to control the Sanding/Painting/Assembly related processes, and also train his/her subordinates to the applicable work instructions and procedures
- Recruits and maintains qualified personnel
- Directs, monitors and appraises the performance of his/her team
- Identifies (outside) training needs of subordinates
- Keeps GM and HR informed about subordinates’ attitudes/performance and seeks mutual agreement between the management and the employees
- Ensures strict adherence to all procedures and instructions that apply to all aspects of the Sanding/Painting/Assembly departments, including safety, quality and the environment
- Maintains the machines at the best possible condition in coordination with machine operators and maintenance team
- Assumes other activities and responsibilities as needed
- Anything the General Manager deems necessary
